Albert Benjamin Dowdey, ca. 1900

Albert was my grandmother’s father on my mother’s side, and as Grandmother lived with us until I was 15, I heard many stories about her family. Unfortunately, most of these stories were sad, as tuberculosis claimed one after another of my grandmother’s family. Only she and one brother lived to adulthood.The photographs below are of Albert in 1886 (probably on or near his wedding day) and his bride, Nancy Areacy Parnell, at age 22 in 1891.
