Composed for Alex Timmerman and Het CONSORT of The Netherlands, Bloemen van Spanje consists of six pastorals inspired by the flowers of Spain. Its two versions are scored for two guitars and strings or for two guitars and mandolin orchestra. The work was premiered in Zwolle, Netherlands, on 5 July 2008 by soloists Mark & Beverly Davis and Het CONSORT conducted by Alex Timmerman.
